AMD EPYC™ 7Fx2 Processor Based Servers Now Available to Customers Who Want to Redefine Performance for Database, Commercial HPC and Hyperconverged Workloads.
NORTHBROOK, Illinois – June 29, 2020. International Computer Concepts (ICC), a leading systems integrator of enterprise-level computing solutions, now offers a complete line of standard and customized servers integrated with AMD EPYC™ 7Fx2 Processors.
AMD EPYC 7Fx2 processors provide new performance capabilities for workloads in the heart of the enterprise market by combining the AMD Infinity architecture with higher-speed “Zen 2” cores for optimal performance on an array of workloads, including:
Database workloads: Customers can experience new performance capabilities for workloads with up to 17% higher SQL Server® performance compared to the competition[i].
Commercial high-performance computing (HPC) workloads: Commercial high-performance computing (HPC) with up to 94% higher per core computational fluid dynamics individual application performance compared to the competition [ii].
Hyperconverged infrastructure workloads: The AMD EPYC 7Fx2 processors provide hyperconverged infrastructure performance with up to 47% higher VMmark® 3.1 score (using vSAN™ as the storage tier in a 4-node cluster) compared to the competition[iii].
ICC will support all three AMD EPYC 7Fx2 processors on the recently announced AXISTM servers. The ICC AXISTM servers incorporate custom direct-to-chip (D2C) coolers for dramatic increase in data center density and maximum sustained CPU throughput. Asetek D2C cooling loops capture between 60-80% of server heat, which is rejected by the InRackCDU, a warm water-cooling distribution unit capable of removing up to 80kW of heat per rack. “ICC’s custom liquid cooling solution enables high performance AMD processors in clusters with high interconnect densities, while reducing overall data center cooling costs,” noted ICC’s Director of Development, Alexey Stolyar, “the energy saving and maximized performance is uniquely suited for the HPC environments.”
Liquid cooling can reduce TCO by as much as 40-50% when compared to forced-air cooling. Without need to provision power for fans at maximum speed, system fans run at a minimum and result in a reduced noise profile compared to typical air-cooled servers. The InRackCDU transfers the heat captured by the D2C cooling loops to facilities water in a highly efficient all liquid path. Details of the ICC liquid cooled rack-level AXISTM solution are below.
